The Printing & Imaging Association of Georgia is pleased to announce the launch of the fifth annual Design Excellence Competition, PIAG’s annual design competition open to students & industry professionals from across the state of Georgia. This year is extra special for us as it is our 125th anniversary since our founding in 1894, and we’re excited to celebrate our quasquicentennial with this year’s topic: a special PIAG 125th anniversary logo & corresponding t-shirt design and the certificate design for the 2019 Print Excellence Awards.
Throughout this year, we will be hosting a series of events to celebrate the printing industry and our birthday, and to do that, we would like to celebrate with a special logo. Before we continue about our competition, we would like to share our gratitude for what you do to help students pursuing a career in graphic communications. We are excited to celebrate your students’ skills & talents in this year’s DEC—thank you for your dedication to our next generation!
The logo that will be designed by your students will be used in both print and digital capacities and should be designed with this in mind. The entries will be judged anonymously by in-state and out-of-state impartial judges based on unique expression, creativity, well-defined theme, and originality.
This year’s winners will not only receive gift card prizes, but also stage and work showcase recognition at the 2019 imPRESS event, PIAG’s annual awards banquet, on Thursday, August 8, a set of printed certificates to add to their portfolio, and inclusion into the 2019 Excellence Awards Annual publication distributed to media & industry leaders.
We would love if you could share this information with the students you feel could excel. To enter the competition, students should fill out the entry form and upload their design to the form at http://piag.org/dec. Additional information can be found on the enclosed call for entries, and we have included a flyer for you to hang on your bulletin board. Additional copies of the flyer can be found on the DEC website.
Should you have any questions, we invite you to contact Ian Webb at [email protected] or directly by phone at (678) 816-1166.
